The waterfront park includes a 2-mile walking trail, a public park, three piers, a paved walking path, two boat launches, covered picnic tables with BBQ park grills, and children’s playgrounds – one of which is shaped like a pirate ship. It also has night lighting and is accessible 24 hours/day. 

No trip is complete without a trip to the local museum! The City by the Sea Museum, located at 401 Commerce St., is chock full of area history and includes exhibits on La Salle and the La Belle, his ship that sunk nearby (and was recently recovered). There's even a half-scale replica of the La Belle docked at the marina that you can see!

Palacios offers and abundance of recreational activities with fishing and bird watching being a standout attraction. Fishing enthusiast can cast their lines in the bountiful waters, and the areas diverse bird population provides a haven for avid birdwatchers, especially during migrations.  Palacios is located in the central migratory flyway, with two-thirds of North America’s birds passing through during the spring and fall migrations. A popular time to visit is during the Matagorda Bay Birdfest. 

Downtown Palacious offers a delightful experience with attractions like The Weekender, Mikes on Main, The Pirate Queen (a small shopping mall), Old Main Bookstore, and Palacios Mexican Restaurant. Explore shops, dine on delicious cuisine, and immerse yourself in the charm of the vibrant downtown district.

New Frontier has done a beautiful job of capturing the essence of the Matagorda Bay Coastal Experience. The write up on Forest Bess, the recommended fishing spots and lures for purchase, the La Salle and cowboy collectibles, and beautiful bird artwork all contribute to painting a picture of life here on Matagorda Bay.

In need of some beach time? Matagorda Beach is about 45 minutes up the road and gorgeous! It's less crowded than Galveston and is a peaceful getaway on it's own. Enjoy the crashing waves and the salt air as you relax on your beach towel and catch some rays.

For anyone who loves a bit of history, you can walk into the historic Hotel Blessing and instantly feel transported to another time. The hotel opened in 1907 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and a registered Texas Historic Landmark. As you walk towards the restaurant and coffee shop located at the end of the main hall, you'll see several antique furnishings and photos. Once in the restaurant, you're in for a treat as their buffet-style lunch is set out on a suite of antique stoves. They've been serving food for over 60 years - so they know a thing or two! Give their lunch a try from 11:00am - 2:00pm. You can find Hotel Blessing 128 N. 10th St. in Blessing.

If you're visiting us in the summer, then you must go grab a waffle cone at Mike's On Main. Or any of their delectable pastries. Heck, you can go there for lunch too, as they have some great chicken and waffles, among other fabulous dishes on their menu. This is also the place to get a jazzed-up-looking latte you miss from Starbucks. You can find them and the best ice cream in town down on Main Street.   

The Fisherman's Memorial, which is located at the marina and is considered a special place to the locals. It was created to honor all those fishermen who leave and come back home, but especially for those who do not return.
